How did this blog came about?
Jira?
I didn't set out to start a blog. Originally, I bought this domain name and rented this VPS with the intention of starting a Jira Server (their self-hosted version is 10 USD for a year of maintenance).
After I did the math, I came to the realization that the cost of self-hosting and maintaining a Jira Server will exceed that of my budget (of 6 bucks every month), because of the high hardware requirements. Thus I dropped the idea of it.
Jira is a project management system based on Kanban or Scrum, check it out here.
However, as I dug deeper into docker and researching self-hosting solutions (with docker of course), I found out many interesting projects that I can self-host. From text-based games to automated software development tools to a blog!
I strongly recommend taking a look at this github repo if you are looking for an excuse to host a VPS 😂.
